Special Religious Education in Government Schools

In Government Schools in Australia two types of religious education are legislated. Standard Religious Education, provided by the school in accordance with school curriculum, and Special Religious Education provided by religious bodies regarding their specific beliefs.

So far attempts in NSW to gain endorsement by the Minister for Education to provide SRE in NSW Government Schools has failed, meaning there are NO Pagan groups in NSW able to offer Pagan based SRE. Similar stories are coming from other states as well. UPC is keen to hear from parents/students and others in the community what they feel should happen. If numbers show a strong support for Pagan SRE in schools, in any state, UPC will use the results to help petition for endorsement from the relevant Minister.
